All You Need to Know About Sur-Ron’s

Curious about Sur-Ron bikes? Whether you’re exploring your options or ready to ride, this guide answers the most common questions about our powerful electric dirt bikes. Let’s jump in!

⚖️ Legal & Licensing

Can You Legally Ride a Sur-Ron on the Street?"

Yes, our range of Sur-Ron eBikes includes fully road-legal models—these are the only versions permitted for use on UK roads. Off-road variants are not road legal and are designed strictly for off-road use only.

It depends. For example, if you’re riding a road-legal Sur-Ron Light Bee L1E, you will need at least a valid CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) licence to ride it legally on UK roads. This is because it’s classified as a 50cc equivalent moped. To learn more about licensing requirements and what makes an eBike road legal, check out our detailed blog post on road-legal eBikes

Age restrictions only apply to the road-legal versions of Sur-Ron bikes. This means that if you plan to ride a Sur-Ron on public roads, such as the Light Bee L1E model, you must meet the minimum legal age requirement set by UK law—typically 16 years old with a valid CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) licence. However, if you’re using a non-road-legal (off-road) Sur-Ron model on private land or off-road trails, there are no official age limits, though we always recommend adult supervision and proper safety gear for younger riders. It’s important to distinguish between road use and off-road use when considering who can legally ride these bikes.

Certain Sur-Ron models are designed to carry a passenger, but it’s important to carefully review the specific model’s specifications and manufacturer guidelines before doing so. Riding with a passenger on a bike not built for two can affect balance, handling, and safety, so always make sure your bike is equipped and approved for carrying passengers.

The Light Bee X is kind of in-between an eBike and a motorcycle. It’s actually an electric dirt bike—it doesn’t have pedals and delivers much more power than a typical eBike. This makes it perfect for off-road riding and gives you a more thrilling experience than your average electric bike.

⚡ Charging & Battery

Do the bikes need special charging stations?

Nope! You can charge your Sur-Ron bike with a regular wall outlet, just like your phone. Super convenient.

On average, it takes about 3–4 hours to fully charge a bike from under 20% using a regular outlet.

Sur-Ron bikes can go up to 75 miles on a full charge, depending on how and where you ride.

With proper care, the battery can last several years. It all depends on usage and maintenance.
